On 29 August, we celebrate Mambo's 17th birthday and the remarkable young bull he has become. Since arriving at HERD as a vulnerable calf, Mambo has grown into a confident and charismatic member of the elephant family, known for his playful nature, curiosity and strong herd bonds. As he reaches this special milestone, we reflect on his journey, the lessons he continues to learn from the older elephants, and the love and support that have helped him thrive.
